SAID THE BLACKBIRD (LP)

Neil Gardner's Said the Blackbird might be the most obscure artefact of the singer-songwriter era. 50 copies were pressed in 1972 by Tasmanian label Spectangle in mustard coloured sleeves repurposed from unprinted surplus inners for George Harrison's All Things Must Pass. Performed by Neil (with a band) and all tracks composed by Gardner, the songs will take you on their own particular trip. This first-ever reissue by Half a Cow includes a facsimile of the original lyric booklet, which advises that the album was "recorded using Gnome Power." For fans of Roy Harper, The Incredible String Band and the Pink Floyd of "Julia Dream".
