XIXA hails from the Tucson alternative scene'core members Brian Lopez and Gabriel Sullivan are also members of Giant Sand and play with the likes Calexico and Sergio Mendoza. XIXA wanders far and wide, into the psychedelia of Amazon backwaters, the bumping grind of cumbia, vintage electronics and West African desert blues (legendary Tinariwen''''s Sadam Iyad Imarhan collaborated on 'World Goes Away'.)??Their debut album, Bloodline is a departure from XIXA''''s first incarnation, as a chicha cover band inspired by vintage Peruvian tracks from the 70s. Bloodline evokes the stark magic and eeriness of the Arizona desert, in tracks that sound effortless, despite disparate source materials.
