"What's Good for the Goose is Good" is the first
self-helmed project in 13 years from Brooklyn-based
experimental composer and performer Bradford Reed. The
project is driven and directed by the pencilina, an original
instrument of his own design and construction. An electric
ten stringed collision of the hammer dulcimer, slide guitar,
zither, and fretless bass, the pencilina is capable of a vast
array of sounds. "What's Good for the Goose is Good"
brings the pencilina's capabilities to bear as Bradford fights
and tames the idiosyncrasies of his instrument's
compositional versatility in an improvised dance with a
rotating cast of acclaimed, international avant-garde
musicians (including famed NYC free jazz musician Daniel
Carter). Recorded live at both the prestigious creative arts
center Pioneer Works and at Bradford's own renown studio
in Brooklyn, Bradford's newest effort is a lush, dynamic
homage to the strength of creative symbiosis with
like-minded friends and collaborators.
