Swell, the indie rock band from San Francisco formed in 1989, are renowned for their lo-fi acoustics, atmospheric textures, and understated vocals. Their melancholic yet dynamic sound took centre stage in their fourth album, Too Many Days Without Thinking, released in 1997 on Beggars Banquet.
Standout tracks like "What I Always Wanted" and "Throw the Wine" prove the band's signature style. The album's first single, "(I Know) The Trip," was praised by NME as "guitar music with a very cool tune and even cooler demeanour."
In 2023, original members reunited for tribute shows across the US and Europe to honour vocalist and guitarist David Freel, who sadly passed away in 2022.
This 2025 Record Store Day exclusive edition of Too Many Days Without Thinking has been remastered at Abbey Road by Sean Magee and comes on oxblood vinyl.
