SINCE WEVE BECOME TRANSLUCENT

We love it when things come full circle and they
certainly have with the release of Mudhoney's Since
We've Become Translucent. Mudhoney' Back on Sub
Pop' You gotta be kidding! Yup. Around the World
Headquarters we've been pinching each other not
only for kicks, but to snap us out of the blissful
delerium that set in following the delivery of this
news.

Since We've Become Translucent is the first Mudhoney
record to not include Matt Lukin on bass. Quit
yer whining, bass duties have been ably taken up by
Mr. Guy Maddison, formerly of Bloodloss and Lubricated
Goat. This is their sixth full-length and their
first new album since 1998's Reprise release, Tomorrow
Hit Today.

Since We've Become Translucent was recorded as
2001 became 2002 in three separate studios in
Seattle: Gravelvoice (with producer Scott Colburn),
Jupiter (with Martin Feveyear), and Egg (with Johnny
Sangster). Three songs each at three studios. Which,
makes nine... The tenth song, Inside Job, was
recorded by Jack Endino in April 2000 with Wayne
Kramer on bass. Yup, thee Wayne Kramer. This album
is one of the most varied Mudhoney records ever,
ranging from Hawkwind-esque psych freakouts to
horn-inflected stompers to tender ballads. Just
kiddin' 'bout that last one. It is clear that it was as
much of a blast for them to make as it is for us to
listen.
