NEVER LOOK AWAY (OST)

"Never Look Away - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" composed by Max Richter opens with a somber " The Mind's Eye". A more playful "Kurt & Elizabeth" follows, and Richter introduces us to the musical leitmotiv for Kurt, then a young boy whose next 30 years are the subject of the film. "Enemy Lines" is at 7 min. the longest track on here, giving Richter ample time to stretch the limits of the orchestral score, and one of the highlights of this soundtrack. "Memory Lane" is a piano-fronted pensive tune. Further into the score, we get several other longer pieces, "The Interrogation", "Your Pen, Your Sword" and "A Way Out". The beautiful yet all too brief "The Art School" reflects the dreams and ambitions of (now adult) Kurt, arriving at the famous D sseldorf art school. The soundtrack (and movie) closes with "Portraits", reflecting the cathartic nature after having lived through what we witnessed on the big screen. Richter's score is rich in nature and generous in scope and length.
