The Loop is the seventh album led by American jazz vibraphonist Johnny Lytle which was recorded in 1965 for the Tuba label. The cover bills this one as "the in sound of vibes and organ" - and it's totally right, because you can't get more "in" than the grooves Johnny lays down on the set! The tunes are short, tight, and very soulful - a wonderful blend of vibes, Hammond organ, and conga - played by a group that includes Peppy Hinnant on organ, plus some occasional extra piano by Wynton Kelly. The whole thing kicks nicely sweet 60s soul jazz, but with a tight groove that's all its own! Titles include "Possum Grease", "The Man", "The Loop", and "Hot Sauce"
