Originally formed in 1966, Konono N?1 received international acclaim following their first album 'Congotronics' in 2004. With a DIY approach and an unbelievable sound, created with electrified thumb pianos set to a wild rhythm section, they've been quoted as a major source of inspiration by numerous artists, from Grizzly Bear, Andrew Bird and Wilco to Thom Yorke, Bjork and Beck. Over the last decade they've played major festivals, were invited to record by Bjork and Herbie Hancock, and won a Grammy.??On their electrifying new LP 'Konono N?1 meets Batida' they've teamed up with the Angolan-born, Portugese-based producer, Batida (known for his releases on the Soundway label).
