DEVINYL SPLITS NO. 6

Kevin Devine, known as one of the most prolific and consistent singer-songwriters in indie-rock, launched an ambitious project in partnership with Bad Timing Records and his own Devinyl Records in 2015. The goal: Release six split 7 releases with different partners on each split, effectively curating a whole year's worth of musical output.??Devinyl Splits Nos. 1-6 were released throughout 2015, featuring Matthew Caws of Nada Surf, Meredith Graves of Perfect Pussy, Tigers Jaw, Cympals Eat Guitars, Owen, and Jesse Lacey of Brand New. The splits were met with great reaction from Devine's devoted fanbase: over 200 people subscribed to a year-long subscription of the series when it was first announced, and four of the splits sold out of their vinyl runs soon after being released, including Devinyl Splits No. 6 with Jesse Lacey.??This re-issue of Devinyl Splits No. 6 brings back the release where Devine and Lacey decided to cover a band that holds huge influence in each of their lives. Lacey takes on R.E.M.'s Bad Day, while Devine performs his rendition of Imitation of Life. R.E.M.'s influence on these two songwriters has been massive, as each write about in the liner notes of this 7.??This release has not previously been available to retail outlets, and comes at a time of great activity for both artists. Devine will release his ninth studio album, Instigator, this fall, and embark on a headlining tour to support it. Heavy touring will continue into 2017.
