APOLLO CONCERT 1954

Lionel Hamp Hampton (born April 20, 1908 in Louisville, Kentucky; died August 31, 2002 in New York) began his career as a drummer in bands in Chicago and California, where he moved around 1927 and initially played with Paul Howard's Quality Serenaders. In 1954 he recorded a concert at the Apollo Hall in Dusseldorf with Bobby Plater, Nat Adderley, Buster Cooper and Wallace Davenport.
